RNIT Celebrates Autism Consciousness Week
The Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT), in partnership with Tugdan Elementary School and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Alcantara, successfully conducted Autism Consciousness Week from January 30 to February 3, 2026. The program promoted awareness, understanding, and inclusive support for children on the autism spectrum and those with special needs.
The program was graced by Atty. Glenn Niño M. Sartillo, Director III and Provincial Director of TESDA Romblon; Ms. Anna Christina C. Martinez, MAEd, Vocational School Administrator II; and Mr. Prenz Jumer B. Lota, Vocational Instruction Supervisor I. Representatives from Tugdan Elementary School were also present.
Frances Kie Jane M. Marin, Instructor I and ECCD Trainer, facilitated an Art Time activity, giving learners a creative and expressive space.
Snacks were prepared by senior citizen trainees of the CBTVET Bread and Pastry Production NC II program, trained by Melanis Baldea, Assistant Professor I, showcasing community involvement and shared advocacy.
Dr. Jobin G. Maestro, MD, together with the nurses and barangay health workers of RHU Alcantara, conducted a comprehensive health orientation and medical service for students, parents, guardians, and teachers.
The program included an orientation on PhilHealth YAKAP, a discussion on Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease, and a general medical check-up, with medications provided free of charge to those in need.
This initiative underscored the strong collaboration among RNIT and its partners in advancing inclusive education, health awareness, and holistic care for learners and their families.
